Sports hall De Koel in Borger is outdated and will be replaced by a new building. The municipality of Borger-Odoorn has issued a tender for this purpose.

The tender from Bouwgroep Dijkstra Draisma with the design submitted by AGS Architects was selected as the best plan in the tender.
The sports hall can be divided into 3 separate parts by means of flexible partition walls. The grandstand capacity is 400 seats. The main entrance, catering and a multifunctional room are on the first floor. There is a full view of the halls from the catering area. The hall is suitable for a wide range of users and meets the requirements of ITS.
The new hall will be gas-free and very sustainable. Materials from the old hall are reused in ceilings, walls, changing rooms and construction parts. The new hall is as much as possible circular in design and basically energy neutral.
The final design will be completed shortly. Construction of the new building will start in early 2024.
