The Deltion College in Zwolle is a union location accommodating all sectors, study programmes and facility services.  The design exists of 13 buildings which accommodate the different study programmes. The buildings are located at a ‘boulevard’, covered by a glass roof, providing comfortable indoor access to all buildings. Each building is designed to accommodate entrance from the side of the street, to incorporate potential future use by third parties. All of the buildings allow for a flexible layout and are equipped with concrete core activation combined with an underground thermal energy storage system.

The spacious State of the Art restaurant is ‘levitating’ on top of the Mozartlaan, which is one of the access routes to the Holtenbroek neighbourhood. The Deltion College thereby creates a gateway to this neighbourhood. This gateway also accommodates several bus stops. The car park and bicycle parking are located at the far end of the boulevard. The catering and sports facilities additionally serve community functions. An outstanding feature of the Deltion College is the fully equipped theatre used by the educational trainings in Drama/Theatre, Music and Light and Sound Engineering.

The Media Information Center comprises 600 m² of magazines and brochure cabinet / information and lending desk / large reading table / various books and CD cabinets / various fixed PC workstations / group workstations and the so-called ‘train compartments’ / various group work rooms / various digital question beacons. Within the Deltion Complex, the MIC is the place where various media can be consulted and processed by students and teachers. In addition to access to various digital networks, this also includes books and CD-ROMs. The MIC is a place for self-study or group work in a pleasant informal setting. Many similarities can be identified with the functionality of a modern library. The MIC has therefore entered into a partnership with the public city library of Zwolle.

The SSC is the place within the Deltion complex where study advice, consultation or guidance can be offered through various channels and resources. For the Deltion, the SSC has a clear signaling function in the sense of being of service and concern for its participants in the education provided. That is why the SSC is located directly at the front door of the East building, is clearly visible from the street and has a very accessible design. Customers come to orient themselves, need to be stimulated and also take on obligations that have to do with their future. Behind this part, a back-office part has been set up on the first floor for the employees and management of the SSC. The conversations and consultations are diverse in confidentiality and emotional charge. That is why, from the low-threshold entrance to the farthest corner of the floor plan, the facilities on offer increasingly provide for privacy. The theme color green was chosen, which stands for fertility and promise.

The restaurant has an area of 2300 m², has 650 seats, lounge sofas, integrated bar and standing tables, integrated waste and debrasing facilities. Centrally located in the immense building structure of the Deltion complex (100,000 m²), the building part of the restaurant literally and figuratively forms a bridge. The attractiveness of a large space such as this is mainly provided by diversity and options for the visitor. By means of a powerful gesture, an environment has been created that both connects and distinguishes and in which it is possible to facilitate various scenarios of the users reduced to a human size and scale. Lunch, work, consultations or meetings can be held. In this way, the plaza restaurant forms a resting point and a living room in the living environment called Deltion. Cool, calm and connected.
